Read: Isaiah 62:1‑5
Main Verse: Isaiah 62:5
“For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.”
I was thinking of what love means and it occurred to me that Christ is the greatest example of love there is. One example of His love that he shows us , is by calling us (the church) His bride. Do you know that there are a number of places in the Bible that depicts the church as the bride of Christ. Look at the Song of Solomon, it is a beautiful book written by King Solomon and represents the holy affections of Christ toward His church. You can also find this in 2 Corinthians 11:2, as well as in three places in Revelation (19:7, 21:2, 22:17) all showing Christ as the bridegroom and the church as His bride. Isn’t that beautiful! He loves us and shows the picture of a wedding as a way to help us understand, in a small way, this love. God’s love is so awesome. The poem for this week is one that the Lord gave me over a year ago. It can be looked at in three ways. One as a husband/wife speaking to his/her spouse. Second as a child of God speaking to their heavenly Father or as Christ, the bridegroom, speaking to His bride, the church. Love the bridegroom, Jesus, for He loves you with a undying love.
My love so warm and gentle,
The essence of a kiss.
As sweet and quenching as morning dew.
To you, I can’t resist.
My love so soft, so precious,
As the petal of a rose.
So beautiful and so delicate.
It never could impose.
My love is such a passion,
A burning fire, an ache, a need.
Without my love, I can not survive
Because my heart would surely bleed.
My heart longs for you, my love.
To be ever by my side.
Close to you is where my soul
Ever longs to abide.
My love for you, so strong, so true.
It’s power could never die.
With you, my love has reached the heights
Of a never ending sky.
